About our Director

Ms. Tina De Silva brings more than three decades of teaching experience to Cooper’s Corner. She has a broad background which encompasses teaching elementary through high school classes, English as a Second Language, and also students at college level.She has taught in numerous locations with various multicultural groups of students. She holds a Masters in Education and reading for her doctorate.

Our Location and its Legacy

Our building is the historic location of the first public school in New Rochelle, New York.It was established under the provisions of the Act of April 9th, 1795, the first public school law passed by the State of New York. The schoolhouse was built between 1830.
