About our Director
Ms. Tina De Silva brings more than two decades of teaching experience to Cooper's Corner. She has a broad background which encompasses teaching elementary through high school classes, English as a Second Language, and also students at college level. She has taught in numerous locations with various multicultural groups of students. She holds a Master in Education.
Her commitment to teamwork within education is longstanding and she has continually fostered collaboration between staff and with parents. She has demonstrated a balance of tested teaching methods and collaborative design of new teaching concepts. She works to ensure a positive, safe, and child-centered learning environment.
Her graduate thesis in Montessori education has led to discover her passion for educating infants, toddlers, and young children. Ms. De Silva believes strongly in the principles of the Montessori education. She was a Montessori student and selected the same vein of education for her three children.
Previously, Ms. Tina De Silva has worked as an educational director, Montessori educator, teacher, and served as a tutor in many capacities. She has directed ESL programs and she is trained and qualified with TEFL from the UK. From Winona State University she has earned her Bachelor in Elementary Education and also a GPA of 4.0 in her Master in Educational Leadership. Ms. Tina De Silva is currently working towards her Doctorate in Early Childhood Education at Walden University.
